Metamask is a free browser extension used for storing Ethereum and other ERC-20 Tokens. The extension allows web applications to read and interact with Ethereum’s blockchain in a secure manner. Below we will give a step-by-step walkthrough on how to install and use Metamask.
To create a new Metamask wallet, first you need to install the extension onto your internet browser. Most popular browsers will have Metamask available on their stores. The following links will take you to the Metamask download page for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
The following walkthrough will be done using Google Chrome, the installation steps for other browsers should be similar. If the above links don’t work, simply search “Metamask extension” on your preferred search engine.
Now Metamask is installed as a Google Chrome extension. The next step is to set up an account.
Click Get Started. Alternatively you can open Metamask by clicking on the extension icon in the top right corner of your browser.
Click Create a Wallet.(If you already have a wallet, you can sign into it by clicking Import Wallet and entering your seed phrase).
Congratulations! A new Ethereum wallet address has been created for you ready to receive funds. You now have a Metamask Wallet.
As mentioned above, Metamask is an Ethereum based wallet. This means it is only capable of storing ERC-20 tokens (e.g. Ethereum, Tether - USDT, USDC, BAT). For this example we will walkthrough funding Metamask with Ethereum.
Once your payment is verified the funds will be sent straight to the Ethereum address you submitted (i.e. your Metamask Wallet). Don’t worry if the funds don’t arrive straight away, waiting times can vary depending on network traffic.
Now your Metamask account has been funded and you’re ready to jump into the world of Ethereum! If you experience any issues in the process, feel free to reach out to us at email@example.com.
